Main Story

Stocks hit fresh records Tuesday, but the real story is the 10-year Treasury yield climbing to its highest level since 2002.

  • The 10-year Treasury yield climbed to around 5.31 percent, its highest level since 2002, even as the S&P 500 and Nasdaq notched fresh all-time highs on AI-driven enthusiasm.
  • The mainstream read is that strong earnings expectations, with Wall Street penciling in close to 30 percent S&P 500 earnings growth for the third quarter, are offsetting higher borrowing costs.
  • What the market may be underpricing is that today’s Fed minutes, due at 2 p.m. Eastern, could show a central bank less comfortable cutting further into a bond market already demanding higher yields.

Chart of the Day

Option Care Health’s stock was reshaped overnight by news rather than a chart pattern, gapping sharply higher after CD&R and McKesson agreed to take the company private for $32.05 a share.

Shares trade around $31.90, just below that deal price, reflecting time and regulatory risk ahead of a close expected in the first half of 2027.

The stock now sits well above its 50-day average near $23.97 and 200-day average near $23.86, underscoring how sharply the news reset its range.

Technical Trading

A few levels drawn from investing.com-sourced technical analysis on Option Care Health:

  • RSI(14) sits deep in overbought territory above 90, reflecting Tuesday’s gap rather than a traditional momentum build.
  • Price trades well above both the 50-day ($23.97) and 200-day ($23.86) moving averages, though both carry limited relevance given the deal-driven move.
  • The daily pivot sits at $31.06 with resistance at $31.09, tracking the narrowing spread to the $32.05 deal price.
